For the past 20 years, Karl Houston has devoted his career to help others and leading the marketing efforts for one of Nashville’s largest nonprofits, Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee.
As the Senior Director of Marketing and Community Relations, Karl Houston juggles many projects. He leads an award-winning in-house marketing team in the creation of an integrated marketing campaign that supports Goodwill's mission of changing lives through education, training, and employment. At Goodwill, Houston is responsible for the development, coordination, and execution of the company’s brand, marketing, advertising/promotions, community relations, market research/consumer intelligence, communications, public, and media relations. Houston has been with Goodwill since 1997, and his passion for the company is cemented in his belief that when we help others achieve their goals, and when we give back to the community, everyone wins when a life has been changed.
He has also been named a finalist for Nashville Business Journal's Chief Marketing Officer of the Year Award and has been recognized by numerous organization for his excellence in marketing.
Houston is a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Psychology, and a currently working on his Master's degree from Western Governors University. Houston is a native of Charleston, South Carolina. He enjoys celebrating and spending time with his wife of 23 years and their three children – twin girls and a son who recently finished medical residency. In his spare time, he enjoys reading and volunteering his time to mentor youth and serving on a number of boards.
